Who we are

Hands Of Compassion (HOC) was born with the inspiration by the nation’s goal of forming a socialistic pattern of society, which is the nucleus of the Indian Constitution. It got registered as a voluntary social service organization in December 1985, under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act of 1860 vide no. 207/85 by a group of committed professional social workers, educationalists and grass-root development activists.

As a Non – Governmental Organization, Hands of Compassion has taken up a number of specific and comprehensive programmes for different target populations belong to all sections of the society during the last 17 years and since the inception.  It mainly focuses for the development of rural and urban areas of Guntur and Prakasam Districts of Andhra Pradesh by taking up different need-based social development programmes.

Our Story

Our organization aimed at an improving the quality standards of lives of the marginalized population, viz., children, youth, women, dalit community, small and marginal farmers, agricultural labor, senior citizens, people with differently abled by implementing different projects. Organizing awareness campaigns on employment opportunities, community health and hygiene, public health, STD / HIV / AIDS, legal Aid, Public Distribution System, Consumer awareness and Special Child Care. Also, participate in rescue and relief operations during natural calamities.

All the programmes organized and implemented so far, are being designed, planned, initiated and conducted based on the needs of the community with the active co-operation and participation of the targeted people at every level. All these active, consisted people’s centered activities and the track record of organization helped to get FCRA Registration Number (010190176) from Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs in 1997.

MISSION

HANDS OF COMPASSION is actively working towards the formation of sustainable development society through people’s participation and decision-making. HOC plays a role as a facilitator in the development and empowerment process for achieving the desired goals and objectives for self-governance.

VISION

HANDS OF COMPASSION visualizes a society in which peace, harmony, justice and equality prevails, where in human dignity, human rights are protected. It also envisages the society, where, the poor, the marginalized and underprivileged population have equal opportunities for their socio-economic development, which is value-based and sustainable and also have an appropriate environment for their overall development.

Policies and Systems maintained by the Organization

Project Management:

HOC recruitment system is in place according to the specific project requirements / protocol, qualifications and experience. HOC gives highest priority to create equal opportunities for both women and men and also recruit target community for better access and their active involvement in programme delivery. Organisation pays salaries/remuneration/honorarium along with other benefits to employees are being paid as per the budget guidelines of the respective projects…

Partnership with Government Departments:

HOC maintains good relationship with all key government departments involved in development Programmes. We were one of the Core Committee Members in Guntur GO & NGO Committee for a decade. Our organization is the member of Peoples’ Monitoring Committee of Comprehensive Land Development Programme of the District Water and Management Authority (DWMA). HOC also is the network member of the Guntur District AIDS Control Society and Disaster Mitigation Committee…
